The government approved an increase of two per cent in the dearness allowance (DA) for the central government employees. The hike will be effective from January 1, 2018.

A mutual fund is the portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities that generate profits for the investor, or shareholder of the mutual fund. A mutual fund allows an investor with less money to diversify his holdings for greater safety and to benefit from the expertise of professional fund managers. Mutual funds are generally safer, but less profitable, than stocks, and riskier, but more profitable than bonds or bank accounts, although its profit-risk profile can vary widely, depending on the fund's investment objective.

Most mutual funds are open-end funds, which sells new shares continuously or buys them back from the shareholder (redeems them), dealing directly with the investor (no-load funds) or through broker-dealers, who receive the sales load of a buy or sell order. The purchase price is the net asset value (NAV) at the end of the trading day, which is the total assets of the fund minus its liabilities divided by the number of shares outstanding for that day.

SIP allows you to invest a certain pre-determined amount at a regular interval (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.). Gandhinagar: Despite protests from several schools across the state, the Gujarat government on Tuesday declared an eight-day Navratri vacation, from October 10 to October 17, for state-run or affiliated schools and colleges.

The State Education department on Saturday announced Navratri holidays for the first time in schools. The government had announced Navratri holidays last month for only colleges and universities.

State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, “It has been our experience that during Navratri, the attendance is reported to be very low. So, it was decided that instead of forcing students to come to schools and colleges after playing Garba till wee hours, they should be allowed to take offs.”

Principal Secretary, Education, Anju Sharma said, “Since a common academic calendar was already introduced in colleges and universities in June, it was decided to follow the uniformity and implement the same for schools as well.”

This year, schools, colleges and universities will get Navratri vacation of seven days from October 15 till 21 (including Dussehra).

The government, on the other hand, has reduced Diwali holidays to two weeks from three weeks. Students will get Diwali vacation from November 5 till 18 this year.

“After we introduced Navratri vacation for colleges, there was a similar demand from parents of school students to shut schools during Navratri, which is one of the biggest festivals of Gujarat. So, we decided to accept it,” added Sharma.

Outstation students in colleges had said that they would get fewer number of days to stay at home during Diwali vacation as it was now reduced to two weeks.

But, number of such students is very marginal. So, it did not impact the government’s decision.

The government clarified that the decision will not be binding on schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and other boards schools or educational institutions not affiliated to the Gujarat government.
Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, the state education minister, said the vacation was declared to ensure that the youth can enjoy the dance festival which has religious and cultural significance. “The Navratri vacation at schools will be between October 10 and October 17, including the Sunday on October 14. It will be followed by the Dussehra holiday on October 18.”
The Navratri vacation will not adversely impact exam schedul ..

Booth Level Officer (BLO) is a local Government/Semi-Government official, familiar with the local electors and generally a voter in the same polling area who assists in updating the roll using his local knowledge. In fact, BLO is a representative of Election Commission of India (ECI) at the grass-root level who plays a pivotal role in the process of roll revision and collecting actual field information with regard to the roll corresponding to the polling area assigned to him.

Under Section 13B (2) of Representation of People Act, 1950, BLOs are appointed from amongst the officers of the Govt. /Semi Govt. /Local Bodies. Generally, one BLO is responsible for one part of the electoral roll. From August, 2006 the Commission has decided to introduce the concept of appointing BLOs who would be accountable for ensuring the fidelity of electoral roll.+

The ECI introduced this new system of appointing BLOs creating a clear line of accountability for preparation of an error-free electoral roll, making the BLOs its custodian at the polling booth level. Previously, voter-identification slips used to be distributed by the contesting candidates of various political parties and that gave scope for complaints. The preparation of accurate electoral rolls and direct distribution of voter identification slip by the BLOs also boosted voter confidence in the credibility of the election process.

BLO assists eligible citizens to become voters and obtain voter card. BLO provides those different forms for addition, deletion and correction of Electoral Roll entries, carries out physical verification, and gives his/her report to Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) .The BLO interacts with local people/ political parties’ representatives and identifies dead/shifted/duplicate voters to be removed from the electoral roll after due process of law. A well-constructed timetable establishes a natural rhythm and routine, which can be comforting to teachers and students.

A school timetable with mandated period lengths, such as 45 minutes per period, and specific subjects for each period helps administrators allocate sufficient resources to the most important curriculum areas, according to a 2006 article in the "Journal of Educational Administration." Curriculum should be organized so that the most important subjects are at optimal times of the day. For example, if an administrator believes that the morning is the best time to schedule English language arts courses, then reading and writing should almost always be scheduled before lunch.

The most important reason for creating a school timetable is developing a routine for all students and staff. Just as teachers must develop routines for their students to build a class structure, administrators must use the school timetable to clearly delineate exactly when and where students go to class and when teachers are scheduled to teach. If an administrator creates a poor timetable, which either requires teachers to work several consecutive periods or students to go without an elective, such as art, music or physical education for two or three consecutive days, the management effects trickle down to the teachers and an unsustainable student behavior situation results.

Booth Level Officer; A Representative of Election Commission at the Grass-Root Level

For enhanced participation of electors in the electoral process and reducing the electoral malpractices, it is essential to improve the quality of electoral registration process and of the electoral rolls. Booth Level Officer (BLO) is a local Government/Semi-Government official, familiar with the local electors and generally a voter in the same polling area who assists in updating the roll using his local knowledge. In fact, BLO is a representative of Election Commission of India (ECI) at the grass-root level who plays a pivotal role in the process of roll revision and collecting actual field information with regard to the roll corresponding to the polling area assigned to him.

Under Section 13B (2) of Representation of People Act, 1950, BLOs are appointed from amongst the officers of the Govt. /Semi Govt. /Local Bodies. Generally, one BLO is responsible for one part of the electoral roll. From August, 2006 the Commission has decided to introduce the concept of appointing BLOs who would be accountable for ensuring the fidelity of electoral roll.+

The ECI introduced this new system of appointing BLOs creating a clear line of accountability for preparation of an error-free electoral roll, making the BLOs its custodian at the polling booth level. Previously, voter-identification slips used to be distributed by the contesting candidates of various political parties and that gave scope for complaints. The preparation of accurate electoral rolls and direct distribution of voter identification slip by the BLOs also boosted voter confidence in the credibility of the election process.

BLO assists eligible citizens to become voters and obtain voter card. BLO provides those different forms for addition, deletion and correction of Electoral Roll entries, carries out physical verification, and gives his/her report to Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) .The BLO interacts with local people/ political parties’ representatives and identifies dead/shifted/duplicate voters to be removed from the electoral roll after due process of law. A high-level committee of the state education department, including education secretary Sunaina Tomar had brainstormed over the issue of quality of education and poor results after which the decision to introduce ‘Shikshak Sajjata Kasoti’ (Teacher Preparedness Test) was taken. The test might be conducted in August-September 2018. Education department officials claimed that Gujarat is first state in the country to introduce the test to assess a teacher’s social skills, understanding of the subject that he/she teaches and pedagogy.

Gandhi Jyanti Na Divase College Chalu Rakhava Baabat

Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday in India celebrated on 2nd October. This day is celebrated in the honor of the birthday of the Father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapuji. Internationally this day is celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence as Gandhiji was the preacher of non-violence. He is a symbol of peace and truth.
Gandhiji was born on 2nd October 1869, in Porbunder, a small town in Gujarat. He studied law in U.K and practiced law in South Africa. In his autobiography "My experiments with Truth" Gandhiji described his childhood and teen age years, his marriage with Kasturba at the age of 13 and a sheer dedication for his mother land. He has set an example of simple living and high thinking. He was against the addictions like smoking, drinking and non-vegetarianism. 
Gandhiji was a pioneer of truth and non-violence. He started the 'Satyagraha' (non-violence) movement for the Indian freedom struggle. He played a very significant role in achieving independence for India from British rule. He proved to the world that freedom can be achieved through the path of total non-violence. 
All the organizations throughout the country remain closed on this day. Special event is organized at Raj Ghat, New Delhi where Gandhiji was cremated. People do prayers, pay homage and sing Gandhiji's favorite song "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram...". 
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
