Gujarat University is located on the famous Ashram Road in Ahmedabad. It was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on October 15, 190. Usually the short 'U' is used in the spelling of Gujarat but the university uses its own spelling Gujarat long Gujarat Vidyapeeth does so
Gujarat Vidyapeeth was established by Mahatma Gandhi on October 18, 1920. Gujarat University has been considered a university since 1963. Gujarat University to receive US for higher education programs. (University Grants Commission). It was started as a National Institute of University Education and was a step of non-cooperation movement. Mahatma Gandhi remained its Chancellor for life. The institute provides higher education with an integrated system of education from nursery to doctoral level. The main objective is to prepare workers of character, ability, culture and dedication to carry out the movement connected with the revival of the country in accordance with the ideals given by Mahatma Gandhi.
