Gujarat Corona update date 21-4-2020 Evening

The death toll in the state has risen to 77, with six more killed. In the last 12 hours, the number of positive patients has increased in Surat compared to Ahmedabad in the state. Informing about the new positive cases, the front secretary of health Jayanti Ravi said that 69 cases have been reported in Surat and 50 in Ahmedabad. Besides, 2 cases have been reported in Rajkot, 1-1 in Aravalli, Gir-Somnath, Tapi and Kheda and 2 in Valsad. With the new district of Tapi and Valsad, 27 districts of the state are in the grip of Corona. Out of these 27 districts, Gandhinagar city, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi and Sabarkantha have been liberated. In the last 24 hours 3339 tests have been done, out of which 215 have come positive and 3124 have come negative.

Curfew will remain in place till April 24 in the curfew-hit area

Efforts are being made to comply with lockdowns and curfews across the state. Curfew remains unchanged till April 24 in some curfewed areas of Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot. A total of 364 people have been arrested across the state for violating the curfew. 163 people were arrested in Ahmedabad, 125 in Surat and 70 in Rajkot, said state police chief Shivanand Jai. "People do not maintain social distance during curfew," he said.
